Obituary of Philip Scott

Philip M. Scott FRAIC SAA, Architect, husband, father, grandfather, friend and mentor. Phil was born in North Bay, Ontario becoming a lifelong Saskatoon resident soon after. He attended Victoria School, Nutana Collegiate, and UBC (B. Arch ’52) before returning to Saskatoon with his new bride in 1957. Phil interrupted his golf time to be a partner in an architectural firm for 45 years, responsible for many of Saskatoon’s notable buildings. His career culminated with the honours of being granted Fellowship of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada and of being inducted by his peers as a Life Member of the Saskatchewan Association of Architects. Active in both his profession and the community, Phil served terms as the President of the Saskatchewan Association of Architects, President of the Kinsmen Club, YMCA Board of Directors, member of Architectural Certification Board. In addition to raising four children and building a cottage at Emma Lake, Phil and Diane indulged their love of travel – visiting four continents, from Brazil to Russia with many countries in between. Favourites being Istanbul and the many family trips to the Caribbean and Costa Rica. In later years, he was content to escape the northern winters to relax in the Florida heat. Phil was predeceased by his parents, William and Louise, and is survived by Diane, his wife of 59 years, and his children Meighan (Brian), Philip (Andrea), Jennifer (Don), and Peter (Mike) and his cherished grandchildren Crichton, Stephanie, Dixon, Parker, Piper, and Peter. He will also be missed by the many members of the Bowers, Houston, and Morse families.
