Obituary of Grant Elwood Orchard
It is with great sadness that the family of Grant Orchard announce his sudden passing on Friday May 3rd at the age of 72.
Grant leaves behind his 3 dearly loved children, Jason (Janelle) and Tera from his relationship with Terrie (Bekattla-Dongu) and Callum from his relationship with Tina (McPhee). He is also survived by his three brothers Doug (Sallie), David (Marjaleena) and Lyle (Cathy) and niece Treena and grand daughter Eryn.
Grant grew up on his family’s farm in Borden Saskatchewan. From there, Grant moved to Vancouver for a short time before moving back to farm in Borden. From there Grant lived and worked in Prince Albert and Saskatoon while raising his two children Jason and Tera with Terrie. In the late 90’s Grant moved again, this time to Toronto. In Toronto he worked and raised his son Callum with Tina. Just two years ago Grant made his return to Saskatchewan moving back to Saskatoon.
Grant’s vibrant and positive energy leaves us with many memories and stories. Those whose lives he touched, knew him as a passionate, kind, humble, curious, honourable man with many interests and hobbies. His love for Canada showed through in his work advocating for many causes around social justice, war and his long time work for Citizens Concerned about Free Trade. In the late 90’s he began working tirelessly with his brother David in his political campaigns in federal politics.
His family and friends would like to thank everyone for their outpouring of support, love and most importantly, kind words and memories of Grant.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Saskatoon’s ‘Friendship Inn’, or a cause of your choice.
There will be a Celebration of Grant's life at 2:00 PM Saturday, May 11, 2024 at the St. George's Senior Citizens Centre, 1235 20th St W, Saskatoon.
