Unfortunately I just heard. Sadly, Mike and I did keep in touch after time together at STI and Beavers hockey. That said, he was an awesome team mate and friend for those years in Moose Jaw. I remember him seeing Jenni in the halls of STI and he saying “ I am going to marry that girl”.

Our sympathy for all Mike's family and friends. We got to know Mike and family through our new niece Brooklyn. We were lucky to attend a pool party and was very welcomed by Mike when we arrived. He had a way of making everyone feel like family. I am sure he will be coaching and guiding his family along.

To Boston, Chantal, and all of the Leier Family. Corinne and I are shocked and so saddened to hear of Mike's sudden passing. From the stories we have heard in person, from the lovely written obituary, and from the condolences expressed, it is obvious that Mike was a true family man, an excellent provider, and was heavily involved in his immediate and extended family's lives. The memories that have been accomplished are truly a testament to the closeness of your family and that is a treasure to behold. Although losing a loved one is quite a difficult challenge, we trust that those past good times will serve as a source of comfort and strength now and going forward. Although we are unable to be there, let it be known that you are in our thoughts and prayers. We offer our sincere condolences to you and all of your loved ones. God Bless You All. Rest in Peace Mike. Your legacy lives on.

Dear Jenni, Brook, Boston and family....we are very saddened to hear of Mike's passing. I'm not sure if he was ever aware of how much a difference he made to our family. We shared alot of laughs, miles... perhaps the odd brewhouse together ...and among many, we were most greatful for his sincerity that always made everyone feel like they mattered, that they were important to him, that he really did care....while alot of time has gone by since then, he was someone we thought of often...and will continue to think of him, and be thankful he was a significant difference in our lives. Our most sincere condolences to all of you.
Love, the Samborskis

Dear Jenni, I send my deepest condolences to you and your entire family on the passing of Mike. Although our paths crossed only occasionally in the past number of years, we would always reflect on the great times we had on the ball diamond and at Foodland. Mike was one of a kind...a special person. My Dad, Bob thought so much of him as a ballplayer and as a person. He always referred to Mike as one of the hardest working, determined ballplayers he had ever coached. When my dad spoke of Mike, he would always smile as he had such great sense of humor and great laugh. Although I did know the entire Leier family beyond Mike, Dan and Tim I would like to also send my thoughts and prayers to them all during this difficult time.

Dear Jenni, Brooklyn, Boston and extended family,
It’s very difficult to find the words to express how my much my heart hurts for you all. At times we find ourselves in difficult moments when we struggle to understand how someone so special can be taken away too soon. Although I’ve considered Mike a good friend for many years, it was the time involved with the Blazers where we really had a ball. The many many hours spent on building the Blazer dressing room to post game discussions in the coaches room are some of my fondest memories. As they say, at the end of the day all we have left is memories. I’m very grateful for the wonderful memories I have of Mike. Our entire family sends our prayers. Unfortunately we will not be able to attend the service as we are out of the country. Ya did good Mike, ya did good my friend.
