Obituary of Judith A. Lambie
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing, peacefully and gracefully, of Judith Ann Lambie, after a brief illness, at Royal University Hospital on Sunday, May 8, 2016. Judith is survived by her husband and best friend of 55 years, Lionel, and her children Scott (Cheryle (Tenneille Paul)), children Aaron(Kathy), Ashley(Brandon), Chazlyn(Chet) and Hunter; Sean and son Ethan; and daughter Lynn (Gerard), children Jennifer, Patrick, Jessica and Sarah, and great grandson, Kash Paul. She was predeceased by her parents Dr. Frederick and Dorothy Gathercole, her parents-in-law John and Elizabeth Lambie, and twin grandsons Christopher and Matthew .Judith was born in Regina, SK., the loving daughter of Fred and Dorothy Gathercole. She attended Connaught School until she moved to Saskatoon with her parents in 1946. There she received her education at Victoria Elementary School, Nutana Collegiate (Valedictorian), Bachelor of Arts and Science (major in mathematics) (Distinction) and Bachelor of Education from the University of Saskatchewan. She was a teacher of mathematics for the greater part of her teaching career in the Saskatoon Public System, teaching at Bedford Road Collegiate, Mount Royal Collegiate (at its inception), Roland Michener Elementary, an Itinerant Teacher for the Gifted, and Evan Hardy Collegiate. Her passion was teaching mathematics and she had the gift of inspiring and motivating her students to their potential and they responded to her in kind. In retirement she continued to impart her skill and knowledge tutoring students she knew were struggling and who would benefit. Retirement also gave Judith more opportunities to develop her other interests, her limitless desire to learn and to contribute her considerable talents to her community and church. She developed her rose garden and learned to quilt, knit and most recently to paint. All these endeavors were self-taught. Everyone knew about her delicious baking, especially her buns and golden bar, for which she was famous.Judith had an inquiring and expansive mind, was a voracious reader, a woman of great principle, strength, determination, elegance, devotion, warmth and organizational abilities. She was the matriarch of the Lambie family and the marriages of her children and the births of her grandchildren were major milestones. She enjoyed their special times together when she had prepared meals for special occasions, or simply impromptu get-togethers with family, and for grandchildren sports contests, music concerts, graduations and the family cabin. Travelling to the UK and Europe with family and to Hong Kong and Bangkok to see family were cherished and memorable events. The family is grateful for the professional and compassionate care provided by the doctors, nurses and staff of Royal University Hospital. If desired, donations to the MS Society of Canada, 1738 Quebec Avenue, Saskatoon, Sk., S7K 1V9, The Cancer Society of Saskatchewan, 101-440 2nd Ave. North, Saskatoon Sk., S7K 2C3, or a charity of your choice would be most welcome.
