Obituary of Wanda Sophia Lake
Wanda Sophia Lake (nee Dixon) (1926-2023) passed away peacefully in her own home at age 97. She was born on a farm near Unity, Saskatchewan to Sophia (Rossander) and Charles Dixon She was predeceased by her husband William (Bill) Lake, her sisters Jean Pettifor (Dixon) and Helen Trainor (Dixon) and her brother William Dixon. Wanda completed a degree at the University of Saskatchewan and worked for many years in the Math Department there. In her youth she traveled and worked in the Yukon. After the second world war she lived in Germany for a time as her husband was stationed there. She had a life-long love of art and produced many drawings and paintings depicting everything from family members to politicians and world events. She will be greatly missed by her nieces Laurel Trainor (spouse Taras Babiak), Betty Lemay (Pettifor) and nephews Charles Trainor (spouse Jane Harrison) and Deimon Slagg (nee Eric Pettifor).
