Obituary of Renate Andres-Auger
Renate Andres-Auger passed peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, April 2, 2016 in Saskatoon, SK at the age of 71. Renate has had a long and difficult journey since her first brain aneurism in October of 2009. She spent most of her final years at Parkridge, Royal University and St. Paul’s Hospitals. Renate is survived by her daughters: Darya, Andrea, Galina, Ootah, Nadja and Renate; grandchildren: Devan, Oliver, Berkley, Dylan, Anastasia, Fiona, Nancy, Alexander S., Alexander A., Grace and Henry. Renate is preceded in death by her partner Russell Smith, parents John C. and Anastasia Andres, and brother Henry Andres. Renate was born in Czechoslovakia on route to Canada on July 18, 1944. Renate was known for her academic pursuits and in her lifetime attended university for many years. She attained a Political Science Degree from the University of Saskatchewan, Bachelor Degrees in both Arts (Major in Ballet) and Law at the University of British Columbia. Renate was a champion for children, women, First Nation Land rights and Education. At a young age she was a professional ballerina with the National Ballet of Canada in Toronto. To her family, she will be remembered for her care and compassion. Always loving, encouraging and empowering her children and grandchildren to strive. She gave everyone the sense that there was no obstacle that could not be conquered. Renate was passionate about math, music, art and gardening. She loved children and children always gravitated towards her. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Renate’s life.
