Obituary of Meryl John Klassen
Meryl passed away peacefully on May 19th. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 20 years, Judy, stepdaughter Krista (Cory), granddaughters Shelby and Leah, and his stepson Curtis.
He loved his visits with his special Calgary family Dawne (Dan), Antonio and Michael.
Meryl’s long professional career was spent as a civil engineer, working in many places including Calgary, Montreal, Chicago, and Saskatoon. That being said, all Meryl really wanted to be known as was a farmer. He was happiest when he was farming or working on old trucks in his shop on the farm with Steven.
One of Meryl’s favourite ways to spend time was attending an auction no matter where it was. Nelson’s Auction Service in Meacham owned by his cousin Elwood always included a chance for visits and good food, including home made pie.
Meryl had a passion for antique tractors. He participated in various tractor pulls around the province and included his granddaughters whenever possible.
He continued to look forward to his annual fishing trip in Northern Saskatchewan, a tradition that was started by his family many years ago.
Meryl was thankful for family & friends who kept in touch over the years. We will miss him.
To respect Meryl’s wishes there will be no visitation or funeral. Those so wishing, may make donations in memoriam, to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 1738 Quebec Avenue Unit 26, Saskatoon, SK S7K 1V9.
