John Folk Mah
December 15th, 1937- December 8th, 2022
It is with great sadness the family of John Folk Mah announce his peaceful passing on December 8th, 2022 at the age of 84 years.
He will be lovingly missed by his wife, Mary; daughter, Caren (Dave) and granddaughter Caelan; son, Devin (Sonia) and furry Obi; son, Rickie (Jenny) and granddaughter, Joanna; and son, Terri (Kristie Anne) and grandchildren, Nixon, Vienna and furry Bean.
John was predeceased by his parents and three brothers.
John was born in Park Sar, China on December 15th, 1937. At the age of 13, he immigrated to Canada with his mother and settled in Kindersley, SK where his father had established a restaurant. After graduating from high school, he continued his education at the University of Saskatchewan, convocating with a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Education.
The true love of his life was Mary, and they celebrated 55 years of marriage. Eventually the family settled in Wakaw, SK where he taught science for 29 years. It was here that he passed on his passion for science and sport. He was dedicated teacher spending many hours coordinating high-school sporting events and coaching volleyball, golf, curling, skiing and badminton. He was recognized by his peers when he twice received the Coach of the Year from the Saskatchewan Volleyball Association. John was also immensely proud of the fact that all 4 of his children graduated from University.
As an avid golfer, he served on the Board of Directors of the Saskatchewan Golf Association. He was the Chairman of the Wakaw Regional Park Board for many years and was instrumental in developing the golf course and forming its golf club. In retirement, he continued to enjoy many activities such as golf, curling and travel, as well as learning new ones, such as web design.
John’s greatest love however was time spent with family and friends.
He is also remembered by many close in-laws, Willie (Angie), Richard (Sharon), George (Lila), Lily (Bill), Edie (Eric), Archie (Cheryl), David and many nieces, nephews and friends.
The celebration of John’s life will be held at Saskatoon Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, December 13th, 2022 at 2:00 p.m.
