It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we announce the accidental and too soon passing of Daryl Kevin Belsher on August 15, 2021.  His death resulted from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident that occurred near Hanna, Alberta while returning from a week-long journey with his three friends.

Daryl is survived by his loving wife Brenda (Sobus) and his adoring children son Shayne, daughter Erin (Matt) his father Merlis and mother Sylvia, sister Colleen, brothers’ Larry, Shawn and Patrick, all of Saskatoon, mother-in-law Doreen Sobus, brother-in-law Garry Sobus, of Edmonton, sister-in-law Glenda Mcfarlane (Leigh) of Regina and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by father-in-law Glen Sobus, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Daryl was born April 11, 1959 in Saskatoon where he remained his entire life.  His early schooling was at Vincent Massey, completing high school at Mount Royal Collegiate.  At a young age he was employed in the family precast concrete manufacturing business, Weldon’s Concrete Products, where he was equipment service manager until it was sold. Daryl was a skilled technician, organized and insistent that his vehicles and ‘Harley’ be maintained in mint condition.

Daryl and Brenda met in high school, and were married August 29, 1990. They spent 46 years of their lives loving each other. The biggest highlights of his life were when his son Shayne was born in 1991 and his daughter Erin in 1993. Daryl was an involved parent, he spent many years coaching the kids soccer teams through the community level. He was an enthusiast at supporting his son Shayne during the years he played soccer competitively with the Hollandia Soccer Club at the premier level.

Throughout his life Daryl enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He had a passion for competitive sports. From early childhood he played hockey, baseball, soccer, ball hockey and floor hockey. Daryl excelled as a goalie in hockey.  He was in net when the Saskatoon Juvenile A Knights won the 1978 City and Provincial championships. He was in goal for the Saskatoon Junior B Canadians inaugural season 1978 -79 when they finished in first place in league play.  Daryl was in net when his team won the 16 team CanAm Junior hockey tournament in 1979 at Leamington, Ontario defeating Chicago Junior Black Hawks.  Daryl played baseball from Sandlot to Senior Men’s.  He was a catcher for the Saskatoon Yankees in the Saskatoon Men’s Baseball league when in 1984 they won the league championship.  From childhood on, Daryl had a thirst for knowledge and learning everything he could about war history. He was proud to be given the World War 2 medals by his veteran Uncle Kemis Belsher Daryl and Brenda appreciated the opportunity they had to enjoy many winter holidays in Mexico. His final passion was his Harley Davidson bike. He enjoyed immensely long road trips with his friends that extended several weeks while he traveled through multiple states and provinces. His life was enriched by the relationships with his riding ‘buddies’.

Without being asked, Daryl was a generous man who often stepped up to help or provide assistance to his family and friends. He was a charismatic man and any one who was fortunate to know him will have many lasting memories of times spent with him. Daryl has many family members and a wide circle of friends who will feel the void his passing leaves behind.  His cherished dog Harley will miss Daryl.

Brenda and the family would like to thank all the first responders who attended at the accident scene. With tears in our eyes, we express gratitude to the unknown woman who performed CPR on our Daryl…… you are an angel!
