Obituary of Yvonne Louise Provost

It’s with heavy hearts and profound sadness that the family announces the passing of Yvonne Provost on July 18, 2021. Yvonne, surrounded by her family, passed away peacefully at Glengarda Hospice, after her short but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born in Saskatoon, SK on March 8, 1953.

Yvonne will be dearly missed by her daughters Andrea (Jason) Farrell, Shanna (Patrick) Friesen, her brother Randall (Jacky) Provost, sister Linda (Phil) Rodd, and 6 grandchildren; Adam, Emily, Matthew, Annika, Isabelle and Woodlerson. She also leaves behind her nieces and nephews; Jo-Ann (Cory) Hamilton, Carole Guest, Amanda (David) Provost, Brad Provost, Katrina (Reece) Wallace and Tobin Rodd. Yvonne was also a dear and loved Grantie to Chase, Mackenna and Cassie Hamilton. We can’t forget her grand-pups who she dearly treasured, Aurora, Milo and Lola.

Yvonne was predeceased by her parents Henry and Virginia Provost and her dear eldest sister Jinny Guest.

Yvonne was born and raised in Saskatoon and loved her days growing up in Montgomery. She worked as an Appeals officer for CRA for 35 years before retiring in 2013 and then enjoyed her part-time job at the WDM giftshop.  Yvonne accomplished many things in her lifetime but by far her greatest pride was her family. She loved to travel with friends and family, and visited many destinations over the years. Her annual summer getaway to Waskesui, with her girls and their families, was her happy place and it was their family tradition each summer for 24 years.

Yvonne was a nurturing soul with a servant’s heart and was a trusted confidant who cherished every relationship she cultivated. She lived by the Golden Rule and was a loving, generous and empathic person who touched many hearts throughout her life. She will be fondly remembered for her infectious smile and joyous laughter. Tending to her flowers and teaching her daughters how to plant (properly!) brought her immense joy. She also loved gathering around the table and always made sure her guests were well fed. In addition to visiting with family and friends, she enjoyed shopping, playing Yahtzee, going to church, and reading; her calendar was always full.

A heartfelt thank you to the palliative homecare team who offered such amazing support while Yvonne was still home and much gratitude to the Hospice at Glengarda who provided support to all of us though her end-of-life care.

A Service to celebrate Yvonne’s life will take place on Monday, July 26 at 1:00pm at Circle Drive Alliance Church, 3035 Preston Avenue South. All are welcome!
