Sam was born January 27, 1927 on the family farm in the Hubbard/Goodeve District.
Sam began farming in the Bredenbury area in 1952. Shortly thereafter, Sam became a Certified Pedigree Seed Producer for the next 20 years. Sam also made time for faith as a member of Third Avenue United Church. Sam and Phyllis also enjoyed travelling during this time with trips to England, Germany, Israel, the Mediterranean, Ukraine and numerous trips to Istanbul, Turkey where Anita was living at the time.
