Surrounded by love, (Thelma) Georgina Kyle went peacefully, and beautifully into the eternal presence of God on October 24, 2020. It was cancer that took this gracious, beautiful, classy woman from this world to the next. Georgie was born to Louis and Thelma Tubb on April 13, 1937. She was the oldest sister in a family of three girls. Raised attending Third Avenue United Church – her life was founded on her faith. She adopted the Canadian Girls in Training (CGIT) purpose for her life; “under the leadership of Jesus it is my purpose to: Cherish health, Seek truth, Know God, Serve others and thus with His help, become the girl God would have me be.” That girl grew up into a woman who served God by serving others in formal and informal capacities. Her commitment to committee work at Knox United Church; as a founding member of Grandmothers 4 Grandmothers Saskatoon; with the Saskatoon Literacy Coalition; and the Saskatchewan Reading Council are all ways she used her gifts to improve the world. Georgie also had a behind the scenes ministry of reaching out to those that could use a friend, or a listening ear. She was very aware that the connections had reciprocal benefit. Her life was enriched as she reached out to others. Georgie’s friendship groups were important to her. She had many lifelong friends including: The Copper Lilacs, The Bedford Road Girls and the Wiggins Women. The Knox Church and Delaronde Lake friends also held a special place in Georgie’s heart. Family life for Georgie and Wayne and their children centered around life at Knox Church, their family cabin at Delaronde Lake and wonderful times with extended family. Georgie’s career included: teaching grade 1 in Saskatoon until she had a family of her own, doing a great job of raising 5 children and coordinating the Newspaper in Education program for the Star Phoenix until her retirement in 2001. Georgie was a woman who persevered in the face of hardship. Her son Bob died in 1990. Soon after Bob’s passing, her husband Wayne began to show signs of early on-set dementia. In the midst of her first grief she protected his dignity and patiently and faithfully cared for him.  She was a woman of remarkable integrity! In 2016 Georgie sold the family home and moved to McClure Place. She was warmly welcomed into the community. Her days became filled with meaningful activities. She spread her warm and positive nature around McClure when attending: In Motion exercises, coffee time, chair yoga, choristers, the ukulele choir and the activities committee. Georgie’s health began to fail in the last year. Her cancer diagnosis came in July 2020. She lived out her last days as she lived her life: with deep faith, abiding peace, great joy, compassion, and grace. Mourning her death yet celebrating her release to eternal life are her daughters: Linda Kasdorf (Stuart), Kathy Kyle (Russell Bayliss), Janet Nordstrand (Ray),  Margie Sollid (Gary) and her grandchildren Brock Kasdorf (Tamara), Bobbi-Lynn Foster (Jesse) with great grand-children Johan and Arthur, Matthew Kasdorf (Rachelle); Gina, Jillian and Morgan Bayliss; Seth and Brodie Sollid; her extended family including her sister Lori Garvie and family; brothers-in-law Ted Cronkite and family; Larry (Elva) Kyle and family; sisters-in-law Danna (Vic) Wiebe and family; Ellen Phelps and many precious friends. Georgie was predeceased by many people she loved dearly: her son Robert (1990); her husband Wayne (2006), her sister Carol (2006), brother-in-law Cal Garvie (2019). She also grieved the passing of her parents and Kyle in-laws. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to: Knox United Church Memorial Fund (838 Spadina Cres. Georgie’s funeral will be held at Knox United Church at 11a.m. on Thursday, October 29, 2020. Free parking is available in the Precise ParkLink adjacent to the church.
