Obituary of James Alvin Jamieson

James Alvin Jamieson of Strasbourg died October 18, 2020 at Parkridge Centre in Saskatoon with his loving wife of 65 years by his side. Born on October 6, 1935, in McAuley MB, Jim is survived by his wife, Mona (née Edgar), his children Debra (Terry) Fiessel, Robin (Cheryl) and Patrick (Angela), grandchildren Lana (Paul) Fiessel-Matteau, Sasha (Gregg) Forsyth, Chris (Amanda) Fiessel, Logan (Jaime), Whitney (Robert) Boyachek, Jillian (Matthew) Cleaveley, Millie, Ted and Dean, great-grandchildren Katelyn Fiessel, Jade Whittet, Evan Whittet, Owen & Clara Forsyth, Kohen & Mikah Jamieson, Draya Fiessel, great-great-granddaughter Mila Fiessel-Dunbar, siblings Fred (Frances), Olive Garvey, Edith (George) Schwellinger, Gerald (Elaine), Robert (Betty), and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Cameron and Ethel (née James). 

Jim attended school at McAuley and Moosomin. He met Mona, the love of his life, at Teachers College in Moose Jaw.  Jim taught at two rural schools: Rosenberg (Balgonie) and Nut Lake (Kelvington), then at Minton, Semans and finally Strasbourg where he retired as principal.  He was active in school, sports, church and community and thoroughly enjoyed every activity and every person that crossed his path. He coached many championship teams through the years while participating in many sports himself. He and his brother Gerry were inducted into the Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame for the many championships won while playing with the Semans Wheat Kings. He spent his retirement volunteering, golfing, curling, playing cards, occasional travelling and enjoying his always-growing family.  He had a way of creating smiles wherever he went and making people feel valued and welcome. Unfortunately, he was diagnosed with vascular dementia and Alzheimer's disease and from March 2018 until his passing, Jim resided at Parkridge LTC Home in Saskatoon. The family is extremely grateful to the staff at Parkridge for their wonderful care and support.
