Vincent passed on March 9th, 2020, and at that time his memorial was postponed until we could gather again in each other’s company. His life will be celebrated on Saturday August 7, 2021 at St. John’s Cathedral, 816 Spadina Crescent East, at 11:00 am, with light refreshments to follow. For those unable to attend, the service will be livestreamed on this tribute page. The link will be made available to day of the service.
Vincent passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on March 9th, 2020. He was predeceased by his parents Settimio and Livia Colistro, and his sister Maria Ewen. He is lovingly remembered and celebrated by his wife Tina; daughters Faye Georget (Chad) and Beth Richert (Lucas); and grandchildren Kya, Nathaniel and Livia Georget, Oscar and Lucy Richert; his brother Joseph Colistro (Claire); brother-in-law Garth Ewen; and nieces/nephews Tammy Cooper, Anthony Ewen and Timio, Vincent and Livia Colistro.
Vincent was born in Grimaldi, Italy in 1949. He emigrated to Canada in 1953, settling in Wainwright, Alberta. He went on to study at the University of Alberta, eventually obtaining a Master of Design degree at the Royal College of Art, London. While in London he met Tina, whom he married on November 22nd, 1975. She moved with him back to Canada and they settled in the prairies, spending most of their years together in Humboldt and Saskatoon. For the majority of his career as an industrial designer he proudly worked for Schulte Industries, excelling at farm machinery design.
He had many hobbies, interests and talents. He spent his later years immersed in music, art and motorcycle maintenance, relishing in the company of his beloved grandchildren. He kept us all safe, nourished us with unconditional love, and gave of his time with limitless patience.
We are forever grateful to the wonderful palliative home care nurses who made it possible for him to die with dignity at home. The family has dedicated a bench along the Meewasin Trail in Vincent’s memory, “Papa’s Bench”
