Remembering Jean. When I was a teenager in the mid-60’s at Murphys Corners, Ontario and Jean and her cousin Dawna came from Montreal to visit, myself, siblings and Murphy cousins were struck by these glamourous and fun-loving women from the city. While Dawna married Mike Hogan and stayed, Jean visited often from Montreal much to everyone’s delight. She became part of the Murphy family, although they were already first cousins (Jean’s Dad Tom and my grandmother Mary Anne (Mahoney) Murphy were brother and sister and raised at the Island, north of Madoc, Ontario). Over the decades, Jean was the bridge between Tom and Mary’s family (Saskatoon: Veronica and Favian Galvin, Norma and Orest Zakreski, Florence and others) and Mary Anne’s in Ontario (Mary and Francis Calnan, Madeline and Joe Kelly, my Dad and Mom Charlie and Helen Murphy, Mart Murphy, Suz and Ralph Ackerman, Mike and Francis Murphy, Johnny and Marva, Bill and Shirley Murphy). Remembering Jean, I am attaching a few related old photos. Very interested to hear from any of the Mahoney descendants about family history: Jane Murphy Thomas in Vancouver: janemurphythomas@gmail.

To Jean's Family
Sincere condolences on your aunt's death. She was, indeed, a great lady.
Our mothers were first cousins, both having come from "Up the Gatineau" and reunited under different circumstances in Plenty, Sask .Fortunate for me, I had the opportunity get to know Jean in the '90's. As a result, she helped fill in many blanks in our family tree, including links to the Smiths and Maxwells.
