I share my deepest condolence with Chris’s family, his fine art department, many friends and colleagues of JP and the numerous students that will miss him deeply. I worked with Chris for years and my daughter was in his guitar class this year. She mentioned how he encouraged her to overcome her fear of sing in-front of her peers and how everyone felt a sense of freedom and security In his class . We will all miss Chris’s excitement, high energy, and great radio voice at ALL our Rebel events. He was an awesome teacher and colleagues.
My prayers are with the family.

I want to send my deepest condolences to Mr. Postle’s family. I can only imagine the pain you have been going through dealing with the loss of such an amazing man.
I had the pleasure of having Mr. Postle as my guitar teacher from grade 10 to 12. I am so grateful that I was able to be in the presence of someone with such radiating energy for my 3 years of high school. Mr. Postle wasn’t only my teacher, but he was my friend. I can truly say I’ve never had a teacher who cared about me as much as him. I am heartbroken that such an amazing human being won’t be able to touch and affect the lives of more people. Although, I can say it is a beautiful thing to know how many people Mr. Postle left a mark on, for the greater. Rest In Peace Mr. Postle.. every time I play the guitar, it’s for you.

Sending condolences and all our love to all of Chris’ family and friends, from the Pei Family in Edmonton.
I shared some of this on the earlier announcement, but wanted to repeat it here because I want Chris’ family and friends to know the impact Chris had.
As a part of the Jasper Place High School Music Parents Society, I had the privilege of working with Chris for the past six years, ever since my first kid entered high school. Six years of concerts, casinos, drumline competitions, fundraisers, performances, meetings. Six years of watching his passion for music and dedication to his students impacting so many lives, profoundly, and helping create for my three kids the place in high school where they knew they belonged.
For my kids, it was all about the Rebel Thunder Drumline and Rebeltones Glee Club. For one of my kids, it was pretty much the only thing that kept him in high school for a while there. And for all three, wearing their drumline and glee gear was a point of pride... the joy they had in practicing and performing, despite their nerves... my youngest child joining both groups after seeing how much fun her two older siblings had in each. As a parent, I will be eternally grateful.
I regret that I didn’t get to know him better, but I considered him a friend.
Rest in peace, Chris. I’ll be listening for you, still leading the thunder, when the next prairie storm rolls through.

I never had him as a teacher but everyone knew him. He was JP’s biggest fan. No one will ever be able to hype up a crowd like him. I’m not sure everything you did for everyone, but you won’t be forgotten and you’ll be missed. Rest easy now.

I only had him as a choral teacher for a while, but the school trip I went on that year showed me what a kind teacher he was. I had no friends at the time and decided not to go but he convinced me to go anyways. He made sure I had fun and helped me relax when my anxiety/depression was building up. RIP Mr. Postle :( you will be missed

Art and Janet, I am very sorry to hear of your son's passing. My deepest condolences.
Chris Postle: one of the greatest teachers that I have ever met.
This news was a shock to hear; I was in choir class in Grade 10 and every moment with him felt comforting; every choir class in the morning was amazing because of him. He gave a positive vibe to many students, and he made me and many others feel loved and accepted in school every single day.
To his Saskatchewan family, his Jasper Place family, theatre family-- he will be missed.
Sarah Cameron.

HE was one many teachers that told me they wanted me to do my best, because they loved me (like family). Postle... I wish I knew where Bucky went to. We had a lot of fun. Chicken fights in the hotel pool on band trip to bc... seeing you come back from shopping with another piercing.... Lolol. Did you know you were my crush for a while? Lolol... I know uncle Dan knew. I'll never forget seeing you in the play 'swollen tongues' .... I hope your shoes get donated to people who have no shoes.

My friend and I talked for two hours about Chris today, she from the position of knowing him in the theatre world, I from the perspective of being his teaching colleague at Jasper Place. Our experiences of Chris were the same. We asked ourselves how best to understand his life as a whole. We decided that he lived to serve. In telling so many anecdotes of what he did for others, we realized that sometimes, a great and sensitive soul just gets tired. We think of his life as a great triumph of love. We think of him as possessing the rarest of gifts - the ability to make everyone with whom he comes into contact feel loved and accepted. And we know, going forward, that we will work that much harder to be our brother's and sister's keeper. We will make strong connections with our fellow beings, knowing that connection, especially human connection, is the greatest gift of all. We will choose love.
From Chris' theatre family and teaching family, to his Saskatchewan family, thank you for sharing this dear soul with us. He will be deeply missed.

To my favourite teacher, my mentor... you will always have a special place in my heart. When I was going through my tough times, you helped me through music. You helped me believe in myself. You made me realize that if you never give up, you can do what you set your mind to. I will forever miss your rendition of Dolphin Boy or Teenage Dirtbag in choir class. Those early mornings when you tuned my ukulele for me. Your amazing Halloween costumes. Your laugh. The way you always managed to make people feel welcome. You will forever be missed. Rest easy.

This news is really shocking. I went to Jasper Place High School and Mr. Postle was my guitar teacher for 10 to 12. He was always awesome and bright. Would hear concerns of the students and really cared.

Hugs and prayers to Chris's family. I worked with Chris at the Co-op gas station when he was still in high school. He was an awesome kid! As a pump attendant it was his job at end of day to clean the bathroom. He came out of the bathroom with a sheepish grin and the bottom half of his red co-OP tie wet. I asked what happened and he said his tie got wet when he dipped it into the toilet while cleaning it. Was a good laugh for both of us. May your memories keep him near. Chris glad to hear u pursued your dreams of love of music, drama and teaching. As i am writing this the sun came out from behind clouds and shone right into my eyes!

My deepest condolences to the Postle family, to Chris’s friends and coworkers and to his beloved students. I am in shock to hear of this tragic loss, a beautiful life taken so soon. I knew Chris as a young pre-teen and teenager. We went to Camp Tapawingo together, we were pen pals and brief sweethearts, we shared some good times with wonderful friends! I have fond memories that I will forever cherish of ‘Chris and the boys’ singing and laughing and being mischievous and flirting and showing off to the girls... playing beach volleyball, swimming, singing our hearts out at vespers... those camp days were special. Although we lost touch as we grew up, I have warmly thought of Chris and all the friends from those good ol’ Tapawingo days.

I will only ever remember Mr Postle with thoughts of happiness, feelings of warmth and care, and with music filling my mind. He was such a genuinely caring and kind person. Fun loving and passionate. He touched the lives of countless people and really made his students feel special and unique. He really provided a safe space for students to be themselves, to feel cared about and respected in a world that could feel very lonely. I was a student from 2004-2008 and loved every minute of being in his classes. Band, guitar, after school band, honour band, anything musical, I was there! I spent almost all of my lunch hours in the music room with Mr Postle and other students. Hanging out, laughing, goofing off. Postle gave up his lunch hours, after school time and often his spares to hang out with students, work with them, and encourage them to be better. He was truly an amazing light in the lives of many and will absolutely not be forgotten. I am deeply saddened to know that he will not be there when my son goes to High School. I hope his family and close friends can find a small comfort knowing that he was loved by so many. I am deeply sorry to hear of his loss but I know that wherever he is, he is singing.

Two of my children were in Chris’ music program and have forever been changed by this experience. For Anna, he helped her to find her true voice and encouraged her love of singing and performance well beyond grade 12. For Page, Chris stirred a love of the guitar and trumpet and also helped him to learn to love singing again. I will miss boot camp, chaperoning trips and the “what’s in the box, man” at the many concerts we attended. Chris was a stand up guy in every way and will be missed beyond measure. Mr. Postle had such a huge impact on my life, from letting me stay after glee practices to sing songs with him cheering me on in the background, to him listening to me when I had a problem and needed to talk to someone. He was always there. He wasn’t just a teacher, he was a mentor. He will truly be missed at JPHS. I’ll never forget those times after rehearsals for a concert we had or the dance showcase rehearsals that he was helping with where he’d come up to me and say “you’re doing great kid” I truly will miss him. Deepest condolences to his family. Chris and I worked together as performers many moons ago and every time I would see him after the run of the show ended it was always a delight. He felt like family, he was such a talented human being and I will remember him fondly.

My heart breaks with this news. Mr Postle was the leader of glee, and I’m so thankful he gave me a spot in the group. When I sing I have a tendency to shake my leg to the beat and he continually called me crazy legs. I will miss that. Thank you for everything.

Chris was at first my supply teacher and then a beloved colleague when he became a music teacher at Jasper Place High School in Edmonton. My heart stopped when I heard of his passing. Chris is that person who enters your heart and takes up permanent residence. The heartbroken tributes from students and staff on Chris' Facebook page tell the story: Chris lived 100% for his students and the staff he worked with. He was so much fun. So kind. So humble. So talented and fearless. So creative. So innovative. So progressive. Rest In Peace, you darling soul. Thank you for the tremendous contribution you made to this world. We will miss you forever.

What an incredible guy! Chris was the cool guy in our Mexico family; he was a best friend and father figure to the teens and a great friend and companion to us adults. From tennis matches, to water aerobics, water polo, paddle boarding or just hanging by the pool; there was nothing Chris did not partake in. We will miss his infectious smile, his laugh, enthusiastic persona, casual nature and most of all, his kind heart. Our deepest sympathies go out to Chris’ family and friends. We are here for you in every way possible. Much love to you all xxxxx

I offer my sincerest condolences to the Postle family -- and all friends and colleagues affected by Chris's passing.
I enjoyed every interaction I ever had with Chris -- even when he glared at me with scornful bemusement as I asked for yet another last-minute-Sound-System-Reservation for karaoke. It is a testament to Chris's commitment to his students and his craft that never once refused to assist.
Chris seemed always ready with a quick jibe, when provoked. He cleverly kept me in line when I tried to offer-up some unsolicited advice on his daily activities.
I've been missing his presence around Jasper Place for months and and now will have to become reluctantly accustomed to his absence.

I've known Mr. Postle to be always passionate, silly and dedicated to his work at JP. From being my drumline coach to just popping his head into my morning band classes, it was always a pleasure to see his smiling face. I'm sure on behalf of all the music students of JP who knew him, we will miss him dearly and will cherish all the memories we've made with him.
Thank you for sharing you love of music with your students, Mr. Postle. May you rest in peace. Sincere condolences to his friends and family as well.

My sympathies to his friends and family.
My first thought too, was that Chris was the voice of JP - every REB, every bike-a-thon, every event that needed extra energy - he was on the mic, pumping up the energy and enthusiasm. His legacy will live on and he will be sorely missed!

I graduated from JP high school in 2009 and Mr Postle was always one teacher that I have never forgotten about. I took guitar 10 to 30 and took level 30 two more times after that simply because Mr Postle inspired me to work hard and to enjoy making and playing music. I’ll always remember how he constantly went out of his way to teach me extra songs that I was interested in learning. I went on 2 guitar concert tours across B.C. While taking guitar and I still cherish those memories. Mr Postle wasn’t just our teacher, he was a great friend and mentor. I’m very sorry for your loss and I wish your family all the best.
