Mrs. Vimla Sisodia (née Tomar) passed away peacefully on June 29, 2019 in her home in Saskatoon. Vimla was born to Thakur Hazari Singh and Sheelwati Devi Tomar in Etah, Uttar Pradesh, India. She was the first daughter born after five brothers and two sisters followed.

On May 18, 1957, at the age of 17, Vimla married the love of her life, Dr. Chatur Bhuj Singh Sisodia. Over the next decade or so, Vimla supported Chatur as he studied and earned his PhD. Chatur and Vimla spent time in East Lansing, Michigan and St. Paul, Minnesota, after which time the couple returned to India, where they had their two daughters, Monika and Shalini. In 1968, the family settled in Saskatoon - a place they were very proud to call home for over 50 years.

Vimla was a very devoted wife and loving mother to her two daughters and she was widely regarded as a loving aunt by members of the community. Vimla cared deeply for her family and friends. She was especially known for her gracious hospitality and exceptionally delicious Indian cooking. Vimla was patient and easy-going, yet straightforward, determined, highly organized and practical. She was a very beautiful, social, positive and adventurous woman, who enjoyed travel, spending time with good company and having fun. Her warm personality complemented by her elegant style, charisma and sense of humour will be greatly missed by the community she helped build in Saskatoon.

Vimla has now joined Chatur, her beloved husband of 56 years, in the Heavens. She is survived by her two loving daughters and their spouses, Monika (Kumar) Visvanatha and Shalini (Randhir) Thakur and her one sister, Indra Singh.  She was a lively and affectionate grandmother, who was adored by her six grandchildren: Anisha, Kern, Rohini, Chandini, Keshav and Shivani, who cherish memories of playing cards and laughing for hours with their dear grandmother.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to the Dr. C.S. Sisodia Graduate Fund (c/o Adriana Brown) Toxicology Centre, 44 Campus Drive, University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon, SK S7N 5B3 (cheques should be made out to the U of S). Money from this fund will be made available to graduate students to help with their expense for their thesis publication and research travel.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 6 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of the Saskatoon Funeral Home (338 4th Ave. N).
