Obituary of John "Jack" Harold Stephenson
Jack passed away with congestive heart failure after 93 years of an active and eventful life. He was born in Hardy, SK to Julia and A.D. Stephenson and at the age of 21 left the farm to join the C.N.R. He spent his entire working career of 44 years with the railway as a brakeman, conductor and finally retiring as a regional rules instructor. In his years as a railroader and his interests in music, motorcycles, cars and sports, he truly appreciated the people and friendships he made along the way. He is survived by his wife Marion (nee church) of 71 years and four loving and supportive children and their spouses. Lynna (Neil) Buswell, Janann (Darrel) Rousay, Marina (Bill) Stephenson Kerr and Robert (Melany) Stephenson. He also leaves five, very dear grandchildren, Sean (Alison) Orr, Lane (Kirstin) Buswell, Haley (Brennan) Nicoll, Kitty Kerr and Alex Stephenson. He was so proud of his six great-grandchildren, Ava, Eli and Declan Orr, Lucas and William Buswell and his little namesake Jackson Nicoll. He is also survived by his sister Jean Eeckhout and sister-in-law Joyce Stephenson of Vancouver. He was predeceased by his only brother Donald. Jack chose not to have a service. He would like his friends to remember him by telling a joke, recalling a prank and sharing a hearty laugh. The family thank Dr. M. Chaloupha, Saskatoon Home Care and the caregivers at the Luther Care Village who made his last months more bearable.
