Dear Dave and Georganne and Aaron and Jaryd; Dan and Zachary, Ethan and Matthew; Deb, Joel and Elijah, I am there in spirit to celebrate Mary's life and I am here now to share one of my fondest, most humourous memories of your mother. So many to choose from. Where does one start.
The ACME sisters are no more...except in spirit. For clarification, these girls were known as the ACME sisters among family. Their names (from youngest to oldest) were Anne, Carol, Mary and Ethel..hence A.C.M.E. Now if you are a fan of Looney Tunes (and believe me when these 4 gals got together ... and they did DAILY ... it was one big looney bin), you'll recall that Wile E Coyote bought items from ACME. So this suited the ACME sisters to a tee. Mary was sort of The Roadrunner of the ACME sisters as in she outsmarted them all. But in my mom's and other aunts' defenses (and with all due respect), that was not a difficult task...given the fact that if Mary was The Roadrunner, the other sisters were Wile E Coyotes.
One of my fondest memories was when Mary accidentally broke one of my mom's (Ethel's) pinwheel crystal (possibly a knock off) butter dish with matching dome cover ... when Mary broke this contraption unbeknownst to my mother ...
Mary, always the wiser/est, asked my mother, "Ethel, you know that pinwheel butter dish of yours?"
"Yes," my mother answered.
"Is that special to you?" Mary inquired.
"Special?" Mom said bewildered.
"Is it an heirloom?" Mary continued.
"No," mom laughed. "Good!"
Mary exclaimed. "Because I broke it!"
God Bless Mary. Our deepest condolences to you all. Share those wonderful stories...memories that made Mary...Mary and made you...you.
Love and God Bless always,
Theresa, Mary Lynn and Leann.
