My sympathy goes out to the entire family for your loss. Laura shared several stories of her father, and while I didn't have the honour to meet him, I feel that his best traits live within her: the love of dogs, creative problem solving, need to create, and love of family. May your cherished memories provide you with peace at this difficult time, and know that I am thinking of you.
