Obituary of Florence Bernice Belton
Mom was born March 1, 1919 at home on the farm near Denholm, SK. to Waldon and Gertrude Moffatt. She was the youngest of four children. She adored her family and had many fond memories of them. She moved to Saskatoon in her early twenties to attend the Scott Business College. After graduating she worked for the Imperial Life Insurance Company until she married Wilfred Belton in 1947. They had two children Roger and Aleta. Her family was very important to her. We will always remember our awesome family vacations, camping and exploring, Sask., Alberta and B.C. often with relatives and friends. She went back to work when we kids were in high school to Evans Construction and worked there for 10 years. Mom really enjoyed her yard which was evident by all the beautiful flowers and the loads of vegetables she grew. She was very talented and spent many hours doing various crafts, sewing, crocheting and oil painting. She has created many beautiful things that her family and friends treasure. She was an avid reader all her life. Mom was a devout member of the St. Paul’s United Church in Sutherland where she lived for 67 years. She volunteered many hours at the church. She was the Sunday School secretary/treasurer for 26 years, taught Sunday School, led Explorers, was a member of the U.C.W. and was also a member of the Centennial Unit. She always liked to keep busy so much so that in her mid eighties she learned Tai Chi, and then taught it to the residents in her housing unit. In her nineties she was determined to take her daily walk. Florence was predeceased by Wilfred her husband of 49 years, her daughter Aleta, her father Waldon, her mother Gertrude, her brothers Harry and Leslie, her sister Kathleen Cameron, her brother-in-law’s George Cameron, Bill Barkley, Bob Wilson, Cecil Kusch and Cliff Belton.
