Obituary of Ethel Rutherford

Ethel Rutherford August 9,1920 - September 5, 2015 Our sweet mother, grandmother and great-grandmother died peacefully at Stensrud Lodge on September 5. She leaves behind her children Carole Michaels (Don Van Der Veen), Joan Faulkner (Doug), Janis Rutherford, and Doug Rutherford (Cindy). She was a well-loved grandma to Jennifer Davies (Jason), Michael Faulkner (Sasha), Scott Michaels (Bobbi) Kellie Katchuk (Ryan), Sean Rutherford (Cherie Hrynchyshyn) and Nicholas Rutherford (Brandon Giesbrecht). She was thrilled to be a great-grandmother to Noah Katchuk, Jakob and Jack Davies, Karina and Alyssa Faulkner, Anne and Marigold Parker (Michaels). Ethel is also survived by a special niece Mary Hezmalhalch. Ethel was pre-deceased by her beloved husband, Chester, children Kathy and John, her sisters and brother. Ethel was born and raised in Yorkshire England. There she met a Canadian soldier, Chester Rutherford, and after being married in 1942, daughter Carole arrived. The family came to Saskatoon in 1946 and settled in the Mayfair district. With 5 children to care for, Ethel was a busy stay-at-home mom. In their retirement, Chester and Ethel travelled extensively in their motorhome, took trips to warm climates, to England to visit family and for D-Day celebrations in the Netherlands. The family would like to thank all those who assisted Ethel and extended their kindness to her, especially Inez Mascho, and all the residents of Willowcrest II, the caring staff at Stensrud Lodge and Joyce Palmer.
