Obituary of Susan Bunka
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Susan Bunka on December 19, 2016 in Kerrobert, SK, after being transferred to Kerrobert Hospital from RUH to be closer to her sister Paula as she battled the late stages of metastatic cancer. Susan was born in Saskatoon and attended Pleasant Hill Elementary School and Mount Royal Collegiate. She graduated in 1984 and then completed her Early Childhood course at SIAST. She was employed as a daycare worker for a number of years. Susan struggled with mental health issues, but through guidance and therapy, she went on to live a life that included volunteerism, time with family, and craft work. Her passion was sports, both as a participant in hockey, softball, and soccer in her younger years, and as a spectator. She attended many Blades and Hilltop games in Saskatoon, and loved spending time at the lake with family and friends. Susan was known for her independent, feisty nature but also her kindness to others. While she never married, she was very active in the lives of her nieces and nephews and enjoyed visiting with them. She was predeceased by her mother, Linda, her older sister Cathy, and recently by her younger brother Stephan. Susan is survived by her father, Paul, her older brother, Ivan, and her older sisters Deborah and Paula (Shaun) Ross, and her sister-in-law, Carly. She will also be missed by many nieces and nephews; Elizabeth (Jesse and children Jessica, Jennifer, Rebecca), Lawrence, Tiffany (Celestino and children Celia and Isabel), Hannah, Matthew, Nicholas, Zachary, and Veronica, as well as by many friends and people that helped her during her cancer treatment. Many thanks to the excellent care in her final weeks by the Kerrobert Integrated Health Centre staff. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Saskatoon Cancer Clinic.
