Obituary of Billy G. Nesteroff

Billy G. Nesteroff It is with profound sadness and disbelief that the family of Billy Gerald Nesteroff announces his passing on November 8, 2016 at the age of 64. Billy leaves behind his wife of 43 years Elizabeth (Betty Ann), his children Joelle (Calvin) Krysak, Corey (Kim) Nesteroff and his precious grandchildren Zakary, Rhett, Benjamin and Sophia. Dad was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on December 9th, 1951 to William and Eva Nesteroff. He grew up on the family farm in Blaine Lake and developed a love of the land that remained with him until the day of his passing. Dad was a man of strong values and strong opinions who had unconditional love for his family. His world revolved around his wife Betty Ann. They spent many wonderful years traveling together to Radium to golf together. They tended a beautiful garden together and watched their children and grandchildren grow together. And every day they would find time to play a game of crib together. Dad often said he did not know what he would do without mom by his side. Dad was very proud of the accomplishments of his children Joelle and Corey. He spent many years coaching them in various sports when they were younger and was very proud of the careers they chose when they got older. Dad was overjoyed when Joelle married Calvin and Corey married Kim and welcomed them to the family with open arms. Dad’s pride and joy were his grandchildren and he had special nicknames for each; Zakary (Alexei), Rhett (Rhadousha), Benjamin (Benji) and Baby Sophia (Petunia). He spent every moment he could with his grandkids and loved when they would come to Blaine Lake to spend time with him and Baba. He loved to tease them and play with them. Dad loved watching Zak and Rhett play baseball, football and hockey and traveled around Saskatchewan watching them play sports. He was there watching them play in their final football games only days before his passing. He loved his special time with his little Benji and was ecstatic when his baby granddaughter Sophia was born. His grandchildren meant everything to him and they will miss the huge presence that their Deda had in their lives. Dad was very proud of his Doukhobor faith and loved singing in the Doukhobor choir. His beautiful tenor voice could often be heard breaking out in song as he sang one of his favorite hymns. Dad passed on his strong belief in his faith to his children and grandchildren while celebrating Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving and St. Peter’s Day. He loved it when his children and grandchildren attended prayers at the Prayer Home with him. Dad was very proud that he was a member of the Doukhobor Choir that recorded a traditional Sabranya for future generations last month. Dad was also a sports fanatic and loved watching his favorite teams The New York Yankees, The Green Bay Packers and The Chicago Blackhawks. He would often call his grandsons to tease them about cheering for the “Magpies” when they would play his Yankees. He loved watching sports with his son Corey and son-in-law Calvin. This is a special bond that will be treasured by them forever. Dad loved to tell jokes and tease others. He lived life to the fullest. His only regrets would be that he is leaving his soul mate Betty Ann and his children behind and that he will not be around to watch his grandchildren grow. But his spirit will always be with us and the memories that we have of him will remain in our hearts forever. Dad also leaves behind his sisters Elaine Cunningham, Linda Nesteroff, Lily (Wayne) Braunberger, brother Kenny Nesteroff, nephew Jon (Judy) Telehanic (children Zachary & Gabriella), niece Kristy (Craig) Keeping (children Peyton & Mya); sisters-in-laws Joan (Greg) Mrazek, Alice Dumba, brother-in-law Al (Cindy) Dumba, nephews Kyle & Jamie Mrazek, Jared Dumba and niece Cassie (Derek) Dodd (children Blaike & Mack), he will also be missed by his cousins and Aunt & Uncle in British Columbia, as well as many special friends.
