Obituary of Stanley Yokubouskis

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear father, grandfather, uncle and friend, Stanley Yokubouskis. He passed away very peacefully the morning of Nov 3, 2016 at St. Ann’s Nursing Home in Saskatoon, SK – exactly one month before his 90th birthday. He will be loved – and missed - by those who remain – son Gary (Paula) Yokubouskis; daughter Brenda Hinther and her children Brittany, Palmer and Royal; nephew Aeneas (Jane) Precht. Those who have gone before him are his wife Evelyn, sister Gennie Prechtl, brother in law Richard Prechtl, niece Linda Prechtl and son-in law Garnet Hinther. In 1936, at the age of nine, Stanley and his family immigrated to Canada from Lithuania. They set up a homestead near Denholm, SK. Farming was the way of life for this family and soon became Stan’s life long career – and passion. He married the love of his life, Evelyn Sipko, a teacher in 1953 and two children grew the family in the years to come. In 1964 they moved to Saskatoon but Stanley continued to farm the original homestead. Although this lifestyle had its challenges, they were able to make it work. Dear Evelyn passed away in 1973. Stanley persevered to maintain the family farm while continuing to provide his children with every opportunity. Although Stanley had a work ethic second to none, he still found time to fish, occasionally went hunting and not to mention, uncountable games of cribbage and Kaiser. Stanley continued to farm until age 73 when he retired after the 1999 crop. Saskatoon became his full time home. He enjoyed the card parties, bowling, watching curling and cooking fantastic meals for his family and friends on special occasions. A loving father with a heart of gold, Stanley was always willing to help you with whatever was needed. Generous, loyal and kind, someone you could always count on – always. He will truly be missed but never forgotten…..
