Obituary of Vera Theresa Johnson

Vera Theresa Johnson November 9, 1922 to October 12, 2016 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Vera Theresa Johnson (nee Creswell) Vera was predeceased by her parents Herbert and Bertha Creswell and by her husband Bill Johnson as well as all her siblings (4 brothers - Bill, Albert, Art, & John and 5 sisters - Kay, Verne, Edna, Ruth, & Mona). She is survived by her children, 4 sons (Keith/Kaye, Larry/Faye, Bob/Gail and Denny/Brenda) and 2 daughters (Cheryl/Jim and Linda/Brian), as well as 10 grandchildren - Denny, Stefanie, Courtney, Chris, Brittany, Katie, Craig, Taylor, Patrick, and Brodie and 3 great-grandchildren - Maddox, Daxton, and Parker. Vera was born in Dinsmore Saskatchewan on November 9, 1922. She attended public school in Dinsmore then high school at Sion Convent in Saskatoon. After school she worked at Eaton's Department Store which is where she met her husband-to-be Bill Johnson. This marriage resulted in 6 children and much moving around the country as Bill was in the Armed Forces. Vera was a strong woman who faced these challenges with fortitude and no complaints (well, maybe a little). She always showed a confident, undeterred front to her children which I believe helped them all get through their own challenges. Vera took great joy in family, not only her own children and grandchildren, but also extended family members nieces and nephews and their children. She always took time to talk to them, listen to them, as well as play the odd game of Cribbage and Spite and Malice. No quarter was given when playing these and other games and opponents could always count on her fighting til the end. Vera was a big sports fan, in particular "her" Montreal Canadiens and Pittsburgh Penguins hockey teams and Saskatchewan Roughriders football team. But most of all she loved watching her children and grandchildren in their endeavours. Whether hockey, softball, basketball, soccer or lacrosse, if she was able she was there to support them. Her essence, and the beauty of her heart and soul, is most perfectly encapsulated in, while, despite her personal state of decline, her very last utterance was ...." how are YOU feeling "........ Vera will be missed in this world by her family and friends. She would be tremendously pleased to think that the people she loved remembered her with happiness.
