Obituary of Bill Linsley
The family of Bill Linsley, aged 78 years of Saskatoon, sadly announces his passing on Saturday, October 1, 2016, following a sudden illness and short hospital stay. All of his children and grandchildren were by his side. Bill will always be deeply loved, remembered, and missed by his children, Todd and partner Meghan (Ryan and wife Tara), Tim and wife Kerry (Andrew and Matthew), Terry and husband Ken Kreutzwieser (Noah, Madeline, and Mya), Troy and wife Marie (Nate and Sam). Bill is also survived by sister Marj Steele and brother Dave Linsley. Bill was predeceased by the love of his life of 51 years, Evelyn, his parents, Harry and Mary Linsley, and his siblings, Walter and Herb Linsley. Bill was born March 24, 1938 in Avonlea, SK. At an early age, he joined the family meat business where he developed a passion for and became a life-long “grocery man”. Bill worked his way up to senior management of Western Grocers’ and Sobeys. In all his working years, he was and continues to be known for his dedication, knowledge, compassion, integrity and understanding, though his greatest joy and best-known role was as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. It was love at first sight for Bill and Ev and they were married on August 1, 1962 in Moose Jaw, SK. Children soon followed (his 4 T's). All of Bill’s life, he was first and foremost a gentle, kind, and supportive family man. Admired by many, he will always be remembered for his extraordinary dedication to his family, the constant jingle of coins in his pocket, the toothpick in the corner of his mouth, and his gentle, unassuming nature that immediately put anyone he met at ease. Even towards the end, Bill’s thoughts were for his family. He gave them the gift of certainty by telling them that he knew he would be okay, as would they. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at City and St. Paul's Hospitals for caring for our dad, grandpa and dear friend.
