I was shocked to hear of Richard's passing. I have been wanting to touch base with him again for awhile. Sadly, when I finally got around to it, it was too late. We were childhood friends and I have many fond memories of this times. Rest in peace my friend.

I was sadden to have just found out about Richard's passing. Although we lost touch over the past few years he was a good friend for over 30 years. He lived life on his own terms but was always curious about how why and how things worked; whether it was radio electronics, how to make beer or doing fine needlepoint. I first met him at the Saskatoon Amateur Radio Club so I'm glad to know he didn't let his disabilities keep him from becoming involved again with club.

I'm so sorry to hear about Richard's passing. He was a very valued and very active member of our radio club. He had many friends in the radio community both locally and far away. Despite his physical limitations, Richard tried his best to keep abreast of current trends and with some help from his friends was able to utilize all the newer technologies available in amateur radio. It was rare when Richard did not attend club coffee nites, breakfasts and meetings. His positive, cheerful kind hearted nature is missed by many, and I can only hope that Richard is in a happier place today....

It is with a heavy heart that we say good bye to Richard.
From that day on the Access Transit bus when Eric happened to sit beside Richard and Eric recognized Richard as being a fellow Amateur Radio operator and invited Richard to join in, through all the times since that day, we saw Richard so thoroughly enjoy the hobby and be a true friend to all of us. He will missed very much. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.
