Obituary of Arden Tallmadge
Arden Wallace Tallmadge passed away peacefully, with family by his side, on August 13th, 2016 after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Arden was born August 27th, 1953 in Meadow Lake, SK, the second child to Rodney & Irene Tallmadge. He spent his childhood in Meadow Lake and then moved with his family to Langham, SK in 1967. It was here that he met and married his love and best friend, Marilyn. Arden worked in construction for most of his life, owning and operating his own construction company for a time. After construction, Arden worked as the Water and Sewer Commissioner for the town of Langham before beginning employment in the retail sector at Peavey Mart – it was here that he met so many of his friends. He took great pride when so many people would come in specifically to see him. Dad retired on his 60th birthday and spent his days with family, friends and tinkering on the many hobbies he enjoyed. Arden enjoyed anything outdoors, all sports, and gatherings with family and friends. He excelled at many sports, was a very fierce competitor and spent many years playing competitive fastball, later teaching his daughter to do the same. Often you could find Arden out on a boat with a fishing rod, hunting, on horseback, on a quad just exploring the countryside or around the fire pit enjoying a wiener roast. When not outside, Arden cherished the gatherings with his large family and large circle of friends and would challenge anyone to a cutthroat game of Kaiser, or any game for that matter. Teach him how to play and he would soon win every game. Arden will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife Marilyn of 39 years and their daughter Amie (Chris). ‘Papa’ will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Morgan and Ryan who were the lights of his life. He also leaves behind his mother, Irene Tallmadge, and his siblings: Neil (Judy), Cheryl (Doug), Sherri (Alvin), Shelley (Howie), Patsy, Shawn (Krista), and his brother in law Duane. His nieces and nephews include: Katie (Joe), Keith (Shanine), Shane, Kyle, Owen, Emma, and Logan. As well, he is leaving behind numerous aunts, uncles, extended family, and friends. He was predeceased by his father, Rodney Tallmadge, his sister, Tammy Enns, and his father in law, Jack Dear. Marilyn and the family would like to extend sincere gratitude for the exceptional care Arden received at the Palliative Care Unit at St. Paul’s Hospital. We would also like to thank Dr. Martens and his staff. At this difficult time, and in memory of Arden, consider passing along a good deed to others.
