We were very sad to hear of Mavis's passing. The Felske's have been great neighbors and friends of the Kirk's for many years. Mom often remarks about the many good cups of coffee and chats she had with Evelyn.
We didn't have a baby-sitter very often but I recall once when Mavis was over to sit with us. It was evening and we were sitting on the front step and I was quite intrigued with Mavis's hair-do. She had used rollers and then sprayed it and I was quite in awe. She invited me to touch it and I was further amazed, clearly not having any previous knowledge of such beauty techniques.
Mom also says that when she was in hospital having Beryl, our youngest sister, Sheila, who would have been 3, stayed with the Felske's. The Beatles were popular at the time and when Sheila came home, she was often singing "she loves you, ya, ya ya", which had been taught to her by Mavis.
Our condolences to all of you. We hope you are all doing well.

Dear Jason and Heather: So sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. We remember happier times at Emmanuel United where we met regularly. Your Mom always had bright cheery words of friendship whenever we ran into her. Not that long ago at Shaw Centre. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
