Obituary of Dicky Lee
Lee, Dicky Yun Chea
July 20, 1951 – July 30, 2016
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we must say goodbye to our beloved husband and Dad (Pops) who passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side. We are all so proud of Dicky for his courageous, hard fought battle, but due to complications from cancer treatments he was forced to leave the ones he loved.
Dicky is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 36 years, Sharon, and their daughters Michelle (Trevor Norelius) and Christine (Keith Ziemann); sister, Alice (Stanley Leong) and nephews Nathan and Aaron; brother, Christopher (Janet Haworth-Lee) and nieces Josephine and Tiffany; sisters-in-law Judy (Paul Loheim) and Jeanne (Brent MacDonald) and nephews and niece Jaden, Matthew and Sheridan; brothers-in-law Alvin (Eileen Chan) and Ed with nieces Janessa and Kaitlyn.
Dicky is predeceased by his parents, Lee Chee Cong and Hsu Shu Mein; brother, Andris; sister, Lily; parents-in-law Norman & Lillian Quong.
Dicky moved from Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia in 1971 to Winnipeg where he attended the University of Manitoba. He later transferred to the University of Oklahoma where he successfully attained his bachelors in Architecture. Soon after he moved to Prince Albert, SK and worked for Mid-Con Engineering and formed a partnership that would lead him into residential design.
Dick moved his young family from Prince Albert to Regina, SK and worked for GI Norbroten Architect. From there he worked in Lethbridge, AB for a short time, but soon realized the difficultly from being away from his family and accepted a position with AODBT where he spent the remaining years of his career. He retired in April 2012.
Aside from being a jack of all trades from woodworking to mechanics, in his spare time he was an avid fisherman, loved camping and being outdoors. He has been known to wake up at 4 AM and drive 6 hours in order to catch his walleye to return home proudly with his bounty. He enjoyed taking photos and capturing memories of his friends, family and loved ones. He loved and cared for his wife and girls deeply and passionately which will not be forgotten.
We wish to thank all the medical and nursing staff in the ICU department at the Royal University Hospital for their exemplary care, thoughtfulness and support.
