Alexander (Alex) Leslie Figgitt
1932 - 2024
It is with deepest sadness that the family of Alex announce his passing on June 28th, 2024, at the age of 92.
Alex was born Mother’s Day, May 8th, 1932, on the farm near Balcarres, Saskatchewan, one of 9 children.
Alex is predeceased by his parents Walter and Elsie Jean Figgitt. His brothers Walter Jr, Wilfred (Dick), Jim and Herbert John (Short) and his sisters Elsie Storts, Winnie Henley, Emma (Molly) Blayone and Betty Grams.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, of 64 years, Edna; their daughters, Odette (Wayne) Gebhart, Belinda (D-Jay) Krozser, Gwenda (Gary) Lubachowski, Pam Steininger, Wanda (Peter) Phillips; and one son Weldon, along with their families. He had 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Alex loved his greenhouse and large gardens taking great pride in his gardening skills. His gardens fed all his family and friends; while the greenhouse supplied many with beautiful flowers and vegetables.
Alex loved to dance and listen to music. In their retirement years Alex and Edna attended regular dances and he was often the DJ.
Alex, in his younger years, enjoyed golfing, curling and playing ball. He also coached many hockey and baseball teams. He volunteered at the local curling rink and planted flowers around the town.
Alex will be dearly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew him.
A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, July 3rd at 3 pm on the third floor of Luther Special Care Home, 1212 Osler St., Saskatoon.
Interment to follow at a later date in Lemberg, Saskatchewan.
