Rick had survived his parents, Wendelin (Opa) Frenzel in 1990 and Anna (Oma) Frenzel in 1999.

Rick was born in Homburg Saar, Germany. His family had moved to Saskatoon, when he was 9 months old in 1960 along with his parents and two older siblings. Three years later his youngest sister was born.

He grew up in Saskatoon with many friends and adventures from rollerskating to camping, along with everything in between.

When Rick was in his early 20’s he had ventured out to Winnipeg to attend culinary school, where he began his career as a Chef.

After being back in Saskatoon for sometime, he was applying for a position at a restaurant. He walked through the doors where Lassia greeted him and she knew right off the bat that he was the one … he needed a couple dates to know it too.

Two years later, after some great adventures working up in Northern Saskatchewan, they got married out in Yorkton SK with a full party of 400+ people in attendance. Fast forward two years later, Rick and Lassia had their son Jordan and a year later, daughter Kya in Saskatoon.

Rick always looked for a new opportunity and experience. This led the family to move to locations such as Lloydminster, Rocky Mountain House and finally settling in Calgary, AB for 15 years.

While in Calgary, Rick was able to work at quite a few establishments and met wonderful friends along the way that he cherishes to this day. In the early 2000’s Rick was working a couple camps jobs in Northern BC to Northern AB.

Oil Sands Lodge was his second home for 8 years, where he was able to accomplish being the Chef to Kitchen Manager all the way up to being Camp Manager. He was respected and had companies battling to stay at his camp. In 2004, Rick and his family had moved back out to Saskatoon while continuing his career up north and even had the family come and join him to work for a couple years. After retiring from the up north life, being back in Saskatoon brought many more adventures and career opportunities such as working at Princess Auto while taking online courses to complete his Home Inspection course. This allowed Rick to be certified in a new trade which he enjoyed immensely for the previous couple years.

Rick will always be known for having a huge heart. A lot of that love goes towards animals. He has always enjoyed his puppy cuddles and would forever keep trying to convince his wife for another fur baby.

Alongside the love of animals was his passion for music. Any piece of music that had a great beat could be heard when he was around. This coincided with his passion for drumming and his drum kit, which he was well known for as well.

Above all else, Rick’s true love was his family. Whether it be spending time for dinner, watching a new movie, or even teaching a new recipe he discovered. Family was his world.

Rick Frenzel will forever be known to have a huge smile on his face and a joke to make you feel good.

Never forget
