Obituary of Nestor Paul Tkachuk
It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the peaceful passing of Nestor Tkachuk, born March 14, 1938, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada on June 19, 2024.
Nestor is survived by his wife Daphne, who was by his side during the last number of years when his health began to fail.
He was predeceased by his son Michael (1962), his parents, Paul Tkachuk (1976) and Mary Tkachuk (2003), brother Dennis (2005), his son-in-law Todd Gudjonson (2012) and his in-laws, Samuel Martin (1985) and Sylvia Martin (2003).
Nestor will be forever remembered by his three surviving children, Timothy (Danielle) Tkachuk, Deneen Gudjonson, and Maureen (Don) Roy. He was a loving grandfather to seven adoring grandchildren, Crystal (Adam) Toth, Natasha Tkachuk, Bryan Tkachuk, Courtney (Phil) Mah, Kailene (Scott) Welygan, Tianna (Austin) Gudjonson, and Kassidy (Derian) Willoughby. Also dear to his heart were his great grandchildren, Jordan, Carter, Jaycen, Madeleine, Roman and Elliott. He is also survived by his sister Olena Lozowchuk, brother Rod (Linda) Tkachuk, sister-in-law Yvonne Romanow, brothers-in law Samuel (Janice) Martin, Bill Martin, Sean Martin and numerous nieces and nephews.
Nestor attended Nutana Collegiate and Kelsy Institute. He later worked on and off throughout his career at Paul’s Music and Book Supply as well as trying his hand at Real Estate and owning and operating his own catering business. Throughout his life, Nestor, with his generous spirit and desire to help others had a profound impact on those around him. He was always willing to reach out and be of service to others. The Lord’s Prayer and the Serenity Prayer were very much a part of his life as he continued to do what was necessary to become as helpful as possible when needed.
Bringing joy and laughter in his own way, he thoroughly enjoyed cooking, gardening, fishing, music (especially Nana Mouskouri and Neil Diamond) and watching his favourite TV shows and movies.
Nestor leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness and compassion, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He leaves an indelible memory to all who had the blessing of being touched by his remarkable spirit.
At Nestor’s request, a private service will be held.
