Margaret’s endless energy and dedication didn’t end in the classroom. Twenty nine years associated with Drama were highlighted by dozens of competitive plays and individual student awards. She brought success to many ‘lit’ nights, school papers and yearbooks, track and basketball teams. Margaret was involved in practically all activities and fondly remembered organizing an ice carnival during the early years of her career. Perhaps one of the Margaret’s greatest contributions to her profession was her involvement in Committee work. The list is extensive: member and executive member of the Provincial Association- Teachers of French, President of the Saskatoon French Teachers Association for two years, Chairperson and Secretary of the Secondary French Curriculum Committee, Department Chairperson of French for four years at Nutana Collegiate, involvement with the development of the French Monitor Program, a member of the Elementary and Secondary Ad. Hoc. Committee for French – U of S College of Education. She was a member of a French choral group which travelled to many French-Canadian communities. To show her appreciation for her native city, she worked with the Century Saskatoon Society and was a member of two sub-committies, Education and Citizens Appreciation. Margaret served the STA for eight years and for four years she was a member of the STA Executive. In addition Margaret spent four years as an STF Counsellor. After her retirement, she built a house in Montgomery Place and also went to Palm Springs and Indio California to her second home for the winters for almost thirty years. She travelled extensively – Europe, the U.S.A, Australia, New Zealand and Canada and also took many cruises – the Caribbean, both coasts of South America and the Far East. Her interests included ice skating, curling and golf. She played golf at Emma Lake and was a member of the Saskatoon Golf and Country Club and Moon Lake (a shareholder). She also curled extensively in and out of Saskatoon. The family would like to thank Nola, Norah and Sophia for the care they gave my Mom as well as the staff at Oliver Lodge and Dr. Y Nataraj. In memory of Margaret, if you are able, go play a round of golf for her.
