Barry was a man that always looked you straight in the eye and when needed wore his heart on his sleeve. As a nephew growing up I was fortunate to know him as he made a major change in his life to be with the woman he loved, that spoke volumes to me.
He loved the wisdom he was blessed with from his experience with life and would sit thoughtfully listening before waiting his turn to share it with you,
He was always passionate with his hobbies while still making time for his family and loved ones.
I think one of his greatest passions was playing music especially to a crowd, It was to him sharing something special he had, and as with anything he did he was good at it.
My father and Barry both built snowplanes, vehicles with skis that you could drive across the Saskatchewan Prairies winter snow. They were propelled by second world war aircraft engines and push propellers, One summer my dad and I traveled up to Barrys acreage and picked up his snowplane which had a powerful Jacobs circular seven aircraft engine and drove it on a trailer down to Arcola Saskatchewan to be used in the making of Who Has Seen The WInd, The film crew would fire it up on the trailer and throw bristle brushes behind it to blow down the street and produce the wind where people had to hold on to their hats, We did this for a favor to him as he had provided other vehicles and such to the film makers.
He always seemed to attract that attention as one day he had Kenny Rogers and the First Edition come out to his acreage after playing a gig in Saskatoon and stayed for some time.
He was a gem and will be remembered for the atmosphere he created in a positive light where ever he went,

Sorry to hear of Barry's passing. He was a good guy, and a frequent caller upon me as a customer of his with Saskatoon Co-op, and he with Paulin Chambers. Memories of times past.
