“Maple” Qu Lau
1930 – 2024
Maple, peacefully passed away at age 94, on April 28, 2024, at St. Paul’s Hospital, surrounded by loved ones.
Maple was born to Sui Lan Yeung and Dong Chan on Feb. 18, 1930, in Taishan, Guangdong, China. The youngest of five siblings, she was predeceased by half-brother Leon and half-sisters Beatrice and Marion, all of the USA, and her sister Kiu of Edmonton.
Maple, husband Larry and family moved to Saskatoon from Hong Kong in 1976. Maple worked at Great Western Garment Ltd. (GWG), Westcott Clothing Factory, a greenhouse and a restaurant before retiring.
Maple possessed a strong personality, was friendly and ever an optimist. She could make friends very easily and often could be found on the phone talking to many friends and relatives. She enjoyed knitting, and cooking, especially soups, which were delicious. She loved her vegetable garden, taking pride in what she was able to produce.
Maple is survived by her sons Jacky (Monica), grandson Sherman (Janette) and great-grandchildren Helia and Hester; Patrick (Nancy); her daughter Anita (Tom), granddaughter Carly, and many nieces and nephews. Maple was predeceased by her husband Larry and youngest son Chung (Felix).

Funeral Service will be on Friday, May 10th, 2024, 2 pm at Saskatoon Funeral Home.
