Obituary of Mary Gamola
Mary Vina Gamola
November 27, 1935 - June 22, 2016
With great sadness, we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Mary on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at St Paul’s Hospital with her loving family beside her. Mary was born in Saskatoon and was a member of the Whitecap Dakota First Nation. In 1959, she married John Gamola and in 1968, both moved to Port Moody, BC to establish their family. In 1974, Mary returned to Saskatoon after separation where she displayed her strength and courage in raising her four children as a single parent. Over the years, Mary and John maintained a very caring and respectful friendship. John was able to travel to Saskatoon in the final days to show his respect for Mary and also support his family. Mary was a simple person who enjoyed an active life. She loved visiting with family, playing bingo and socializing with her friends at Market Mall and her residence in the Scott-Forget Towers. She always seemed to be “on the go”. Mary was predeceased by her parents Lena (nee Littlecrow) and George Ouellette and her son Leonard Gamola. Mary is survived by her three brothers and children Rick (Elsie), Glen (Cindy) and Yvonne Lueck (Paul), her grandchildren Keshia (Stephen), Kayla, Kelsi, Riley and Kerri and three great grandchildren. A special mention to her caring friends Gord Danyliuk, Joanne Janvier and Audrey Skerry. The family would like to thank the staff in the Palliative Care Unit and 6th Med for their exceptional care of Mary while in St. Paul’s Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation
