Our sincere condolences to Kathy and Jim, Joan and Doug, and the rest of the family, on Darline's passing. I got to know Darline and Wilfred at The Lake (Christopher and Emma.) What good times we had there! I always felt so welcome at Wil-Dar-Ness, their cozy cabin, and loved staying there as Kathy's guest many times. Whether at the cabin or at their farm home, I was always treated with great kindness and hospitality. My memories of those times are some of the best in my childhood.
Sending love to Darline as she enters her next great adventure!

Dear Kathy, Joan and families,
I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to know Aunti Darline. When our daughter Kimmie passed away, she called me and we had a nice long visit. Eddie and I enjoyed all the visits with Aunti Darline at Uncle Bud's celebrations. She was a very loving and caring lady. Many blessings to you all. Barb and Eddie Bilida and families - (Olds, Alberta)

The service today was lovely. So glad to be able to attend via video - thank you Kathy, Joan and families. I have many fond memories of your Mom as I grew up 4 miles from the McAulay farm and we often got together as families. We had many picnics on Saskatoon berry excursions, many dinners at each others homes and I loved to go to your place to play with you girls when you were little.
Your Mom invited us for tea one afternoon when Linda and Woodford were 2 and 4. They were given a basket of toys to play with in the porch. I got quite nervous because they were so quiet. They had dumped a bin of flour on the floor and were making roads with the little trucks and cars. What a mess, what an embarrassment for me and your Mom was so calm - all she said was "aren't they so cute - never mind the mess, it will clean up after they finish playing".
Darline - I will miss our phone calls at Christmas, Easter and birthdays. Love and blessings to your wonderful daughters.

Our sincere condolences to all the family. Such a beautiful tribute to a lovely woman I remember well! One of my greatest memories is receiving the yearly supply of Joan's clothing that she had outgrown and Darlene had sewn - I loved the colors and fabrics ❤️❤️. Your Mom brought me great joy from just one of her many talents in living life. Irene

I remember asking Joan years ago when I was about to meet Joan’s Mom (Darline) for the first time.
The conversation went something like this “are you sure your mom will be ok with me?” Joan with kinda a puzzled look on her face respond “why would she not be ok with you.” I responded with “well because I am gay”
Joan said “of course she will be it does not matter to her if you are black, white, yellow or purple. As long as you are a good human being that is all that matters to her.
She then told me that her mother even refused to buy tropica orange juice because they were anti gay.
As the years have passed I have learned what a true inspirational leader in human rights activist Darline was. I continue to tell about her in conversation about leadership and what an amazing human she was and in my eyes always will be.
The world truly did lose one of the amazing ones. A true
humanitarian.
My deepest condolences to all have had the blessing to know her. Rest easy Darline you will be greatly missed.

So sorry to hear this Kathy, Joan McAulay and families. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. All I can say is that Aunt Darline was one of the most kind, caring, loving, selfless, hard working, insightful, engaging and resilient people who had a good sense of humor and an unparalleled ability to forgive that I have ever had the honor to know. Oh and a lights out cook and bridge player too. Many a time Darline and I put a licking on Uncle Wilfred and the Budster playing bridge. I’m sure they are all playing together again. Until we meet again Aunt Darline, my bid is two no trump! Love Gerald.
