Obituary of Ravi Maithel
Ravi Maithel died on June 8, 2016, leaving behind his loving daughter, wife, brother, sisters, and family in India and the US. Ravi was the founder and CEO of Clevor Technologies, a company that has developed world-class technology to optimize project execution, so that projects are always completed ahead of schedule and below budget. Before Clevor, Ravi worked at IDRC, developing projects in India and Nepal. Ravi worked at SRC from 1979 to 1993, where he brought many new technologies and methods to Saskatchewan, including distribution resource planning, materials requirement planning, focus forecasting, Japanese manufacturing systems, the thinking of Edward Deming, and ways to automate and improve personal productivity and customer service. In all he did, Ravi was optimistic, progressive, and dynamic. Be it technology, business, or politics, he was sincere in his care about the core issues, keen to understand the fundamentals, and ingenious in solving problems. He was active in Saskatoon’s entrepreneurial community, co-founded the Raj Manek Mentorship Program, and has mentored many entrepreneurs over the years. Ravi earned his master’s degree from UC Berkeley, where he met his wife, Cathy. He earned his B.Tech from IIT Kharagpur, India. Ravi was outgoing, gregarious, and always willing to take responsibility. Ravi and Cathy made sure that their daughter Sheila was well connected with both the American and the Indian sides of the family, and in that, they succeeded.
