Obituary of Sharon Agnes Porteous
After 100 years of a life well lived, our beautiful dear Mom passed away peacefully, with family by her side. She was predeceased by her husband, Dave; her parents, Samuel and Agnes Scobie; her siblings, Ben, Sandy and Kay; her beloved son, Cameron; and grandson, Che. Left to cherish her memory are children, Cathy West of Saskatoon, Susan Porteous of Brampton, Roberta (Richard) Duguay of Kamloops, Lyn Porteous (Darryl Penrod) of Saskatoon, and Sam (Dana) Porteous of Shanghai; grandchildren, Rebecca (Nathan) Prust of Winnipeg, Charmaine Bellamy (Wade Barabash) of Saskatoon, and Andrea West (Robbie Bauer) of Moose Jaw; great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Genevieve, Darian, Christian and Luke; and great-great-granddaughter, Arianna. In addition to being the best Mom ever, during her long life Sharon was many things: WWII veteran, newspaper reporter, photographer, herbalist, office administrator, Scrabble champion, volunteer, avid traveller and never flagging family cheerleader and good friend. We will all miss Sharon, but the love and encouragement she provided us on our life journeys and her ever present humour and good nature lives on in our hearts. A heartfelt thank you to the wonderful people at Prairie Lane, Sherbrooke Community Centre for the kindness, care and support they provided Sharon in her final years. Please consider a donation to SCC in lieu of flowers. A private family remembrance service will be held at a later date. Sharon’s final resting place will be next to her husband, Dave, at the columbarium at St. John’s Cathedral.
