Obituary of Winnifred Audrey Bartholomew
Audrey passed away peacefully at the age of 93 during the early morning hours of June 7, 2016.
Audrey is lovingly remembered by daughter Carol (Tom) Gossner and twin sons, John Bartholomew (Mary Lysyk) and Jim (Heather) Bartholomew, nine grandchildren: Jillian (Brett) Suchan, Diana (David) Ford, Brittany (Sean) Bellamy, and Neil (Amie Harrison), Maria Bartholomew, Helena (Jayson Murray) Bartholomew, Steven Bartholomew, Mark Bartholomew and Rachel Bartholomew; as well as six great grandchildren. She is also lovingly remembered by her sisters Eloise Cherry and Marjorie Green.
Audrey was predeceased by her husband, Bob, in September 2001, her sister, Juan Herrick, and her parents Vernia and Murray Johnson, as well as several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Audrey was born in Ardath SK and raised on a farm near Conquest. She attended the Robertson Business School and worked for several years as a secretary. In 1948 she married Bob Bartholomew and together they raised three remarkably fine children.
Audrey loved to garden. Her children particularly relished her pickles. During her latter years at McClure Place she loved the flowers, especially peonies. Audrey was a fine baker, and her apple pies were beyond compare. The United Church was an important part of Audrey’s life, first at Third Avenue United and later at McClure United.
Audrey’s children would like to extend a special thanks to the staff and residents of the Amy McClure House where Audrey lived for the last 11 months.
