To my Uncle Orest,
Thank you for being so kind, fun-loving, gentle and generous.You were always so young at heart and game to try anything.We did so many things together when I was a kid. You let me paint your face like a clown, took me rollerskating, to movies, tobogganing, fishing, out for dinners and we had many long talks about everything. You were a friend, a partner in crime and loving uncle all in one.
You were always doing courses, attending seminars, reading about everything and curious about so many things.
When we came to your house as a family, you had this crazy body board that put you upside down, which was hilarious, and as kids we loved it. You were always looking for things with health benefits. We would then play ping pong in the basement endlessly, then would come upstairs listen to Kenny Rogers on the 8-track and you would video us lip-synching all the country hits, again hilarious. Afterwards we would order in Chinese food and you would bring out all your plates that I knew were never used by yourself, but you were so proud to host us all and seemed to love having a full house.
When I grew up, and moved away and started my own family. I fondly remember visiting you and you meeting our son, Ben. You took us around Saskatoon insisting we ride the merry go round in Kinsmen park. In the evenings, you taught Michael how to play Kaiser and we laughed as we were not up to your level.
Thank you for being there for me, for always listening to my stories and checking in to see how I was doing. I feel very lucky and will never forget the times we shared over many years. Rest well, my dear Uncle Orest. I love you -- you will be deeply missed.
