Obituary of Frank Deibert

DEIBERT, FRANCIS “Frank” ANTON, 86, of Saskatoon, SK, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2024, at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 61 years, Rosalie; son Rodney (Janet) Deibert of Wasaga Beach, ON, and their children Shelby (Kevin) Kennedy, Payton (Liam), Morgan and Reid; son Darryl Deibert of Regina, SK, and his daughter Maddison; daughter Michelle (Jim) Morris of Moose Jaw, SK, and their children Alexa (Shae) Meadows and their children Archer and Finn, son Matthew (Mady) Morris; son Timothy (Tiffany) Deibert of Las Vegas, NV, and their children Elliana and Georgia; son Scott (Krista) Deibert of Calgary, AB, and their children Jayne and Reese; sister Joan Elder, brother Lorne Deibert, sister Paulette (Jens) Nielsen and sister-in-law Trish Deibert, many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He was pre-deceased by his parents, John and Eva Deibert, his brother Gilbert Deibert, sister Joyce Bergman, brother Gerald (Jerry) Deibert, brother-in-law Hank Elder, and sister-in-law Edna Deibert.

Frank was born to John and Eva (Wald) Deibert on August 17, 1937. He grew up and attended school in Allan, SK. He worked at the Federal Grain Elevator under the management of his father. He also worked with various farmers, hauled grain and operated Wald’s gas truck. He completed his high school education in Allan in 1955. Frank’s journey then took him to the Dominion Bank in Saskatoon before he embarked on a new chapter, moving with his wife Rosalie to Regina, where they lived briefly.  In Regina, Frank seized an opportunity at the National Film Board, overseeing the distribution of films to schools. Later, Frank and Rosalie moved to Moose Jaw, where Frank continued his pursuit of education, travelling nights to attend Business school in Regina. His dedication led him to an exceptional career of more than 25 years at Saskatchewan Technical Institute (STI) in Moose Jaw.  The majority of his time was spent as the Assistant Principal in charge of Administration. The amalgamation of the schools took him and Rosalie to Saskatoon where he eventually retired. Frank’s life journey is marked by persistence, dedication, and commitment to a job well-done.

Frank and Rosalie met at a wedding dance in Colonsay and were later married June 30, 1962. They went on to raise 5 children in their beloved Grace Street home in Moose Jaw. Hockey was a family affair. Frank spent many years as a coach and later played a part in bringing the Warriors to Moose Jaw. He went on many ski trips during his time as a ski instructor at STI and also took pride in teaching his family to ski at Whitetrack. Camping was a big part of his life. He and Rosalie enjoyed many camping trips before beginning their family.  The tradition continued with the kids and every summer had the family on many highways in Canada and the USA, camping with family and friends.

In retirement Frank had various hobbies including woodworking, stained glass, glass etching, remote control planes, photography and a passion to learn about computers and printers. Frank had many activities he would love to do in his free time. He had regular coffee meetings with friends at McDonald’s. He took daily trips to the river with Rosalie to share ice cream and pray the Rosary. Frank and Rosalie celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in June of 2022 with a beautiful celebration that included friends and family. 

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saskatoon at the Cathedral of the Holy Family (123 Nelson Road) on March 19, 2024, at 10:30 am with Father Gerard Cooper as celebrant.

Interment will follow at St John’s Columbarium.
