Obituary of Faye Johnson

Alvera Faye Johnson, just Faye to her friends and family, born May 22, 1950 and passed January 16, 2024.

Predeceased by her mom, Edith Thomas and dad, William Thomas, Sisters Valerie Shankoff and Florence Lusk.

Faye leaves behind her daughters Trina de Regt (Darren) and Angela Thomas(David), son Duane McCallum(Shelley), grandchildren Mariaha, Tyler(Morgan), Cody(Teri), Matthew(Mackenzie), Ethan(Amanda) and Sara as well as brothers Leonard McCallum and Lawrence Hardman.  Faye had three great grandchildren Briella, Liam and Christopher with her fourth due this March.  

Faye was a beloved mom, grandma, aunt, sister and daughter.  She worked on the farm as a kid alongside her mom and when she was able to fly the nest she was off to Calgary on new adventures!  She was the baby of the family with 2 brothers, Lawrence and Leonard, and 2 sisters, Florence and Valerie.  She came back to Saskatchewan to attend SIAST becoming a hairdresser and fulfilling a dream.  Faye and her mom, Duane's grandma, took Duane out of a bad situation when he was just a baby and so began Faye's adventures in parenthood.  Duane was the only child until the summer of 1974 when Trina was born and then along came Angela in 1978.  She lived in Biggar, Prince Albert, opened her own salon in La Ronge but ultimately ending up in Saskatoon where she lived since 1977.  

Faye and her mom, Edith,  made a home in Saskatoon together for many years with her son Duane and daughters Trina and Angela.  Faye met her soon to be husband Rick and was married not too long after. Though they would divorce some years later, they still remained close friends. She still offered in home hairdressing services for years but had a lot of fun waitressing in the earlier days in Saskatoon.  She spent time waitressing at a few of the old school places like The Baldwin and Continental Hotel.  She ran a "beer truck" for years which took her to many of the bars in Saskatoon back in the day to pick up all the recycling.  Definitely a great field trip for any of us kids when we were off from school or "sick".  Who wouldn't love hanging out in the Barry, Albany and Baldwin etc.

Mom would never let anyone spend a holiday alone and always invited those with no family or nowhere to go into our home for a wonderful meal and companionship.  Anyone who knew Faye knew she was an amazing cook and enjoyed cooking for others.  

Faye lived out her remaining years in long-term care eventually passing in St. Paul's hospital.  

Faye will be missed dearly and remembered for her many hilarious quotes and one liners but mostly her love for her family.
