Dearest Matt, Chris, Kari, and Joe's extended family,
Our warmest sympathies to you.
For nearly two decades, we were blessed to be Joe's next-door neighbour. From his warm welcome that July day with Tira and Claire at his side to his move-out day to his new downtown digs, Joe always made time for us (even when he had his thinking notebook in hand).
Joe has left a strong legacy: Matt and Chris - you have your Dad's business and artistic talents; Saskatchewan, you are stronger because of his leadership backstage.
Joe, the McLaughlin-Laskowski family will lift a glass of red wine to toast you and the impact you had on us and so many others. Cheers!
With love and grace,
Lisa, Jeff, Rachel, and Hanna

I guess I need to check the obits more often. I had no idea until just now that Joe had passed. To the Donlevys I know - Matt, Mary, Kent... some of Joe's nieces and nephews - I mourn with you.
I first met Joe thru Rod in the late 1990s. One of my favorite things about Joe was that he always had time to chat - even though he had so much going on that he really never did have time to chat. We had a relationship with enough respect that he pushed me professionally a couple of times - perhaps believing that I had more to give - and politically a couple times entrusting me with a couple of tasks that needed to get done without the spotlight and away from the political scene.
We chatted this past summer. There was no way i knew it would be the last time.
I guarantee he is singing somewhere. I will miss him.

To the Donlevy family: As one of the church organists blessed by Joe's gifts of song and conducting, I extend my deepest condolences to the familly. It is a treasured experience to have joined in song with many members of his family over the years at St. Paul's co-Cathedral.

It has been my pleasure of knowing the family for over 58 years & all of the accomplishments they made to mankind. God Bless. Peter

It's hard to express how Alice & I fell about the passing of Joe. After many years of friendship this is very sad. My brother Ted and I met Joe , Urban and Rod probably over 40 years ago all great friends to have over the years. Time passes much to quickly. Joe you will always be remembered as a great friend to us. Jerry & Alice Merriman. Regina.
