Edie Einarsson

Obituary of Edie Einarsson

Edie Francis Einarsson (n. Volk) October 26, 1936 – May 15, 2016. It is with deep and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, auntie, cousin, partner and friend. Edie passed away at St. Paul’s hospital in Saskatoon, surrounded by her family and friends. She fought a short, courageous battle with cancer until God called her home. Edie touched countless lives with her loving personality and unconditional acceptance of everyone. She is predeceased by her mother Lillian, her father Murray and husband Valmer. She is survived by her son, Bradley, her daughters, Tobi and Trudy (Stormy), her grandchildren, Ben, Dylan, Mia, Zak, George, Felix and great granddaughter, Ava. Edie is also survived by her sister and best friend, Rosemary (Steve), her partner Jack, niece and nephew Tracy (Joe), Warren (Kim) and their families. Edie had an extraordinary zest for life. She enjoyed spending time with her family, dancing with Jack, walking and shopping with Rose. She stayed happy, positive and maintained her extraordinary sense of humour throughout her battle. Edie’s work as an addictions counsellor changed the lives of many people for whom she helped bring to sobriety. AA and the 12 step program was a significant part of Edie’s life. She lived ‘one day at a time’ for over 53 years having celebrated her 50th AA birthday three years ago, of which she was very proud. The family extends their gratitude to the CPAS Program, her palliative care nurses, Donna and Helen, and to the wonderful care aids whose loving care allowed for the family to keep her at home during her last several months of life. Goodbye dear Edie. Thank you for your love. Thank you for your kindness. You were always one of God’s Angels, and now you have Angel’s Wings. Watch over us, Mom. We will miss you forever.
