David was a terrific friend and brother-in-law. We enjoyed every minute we spent with him and Gladys whether it was in the kitchen, dining room, at the barbeque or on a camping or boating trip. He helped us with many travel plans near and far. We will remember him fondly for all of those things but mostly for his kind and generous spirit. Our condolences to Gladys, their children and grandchildren.

Dear Gladys and Family…
I was so sorry to hear of David’s passing…I had always hoped that our paths would cross again…
His obituary is a beautiful tribute to his life…
Dave was a long time colleague at SERM. We travelled many miles together to meetings in Regina and I always enjoyed his company and appreciated his advice and support. Another fond memory is watching several games at the 2000 Saskatoon Brier with my Mom and Dave.
Regrettably I am unable to attend David’s funeral but I will be watching the livestream.
Thinking of you all…Heather

Dave was a gentleman and good friend. We spent two years together at Kelsey Institute and shared an apartment together for one. We had lots of laughs, socialized, hunted, played sports and sweated over assignments and exams together.
Those two years are so memorable but seem so fleeting at this point in life. However, life happens and time does not stand still, but memories last.
My sincerest condolences to you Gladys and to yours and Dave’s families as well.

We are so sad to hear of Dave’s death. Our deepest sympathies to Gladys, Erin, Ryan and Gladys’ family members. Dave was a good friend and his passing will leave a large hole in many circles. I have many fond memories involving Dave - family camping trips, hockey tournaments, Blue Jays games, slow-pitch tournaments, Rider games, weekend getaways, Christmas and New Year’s Eve family gatherings, boating and fishing.
Rest in Peace, my friend.

I met Dave in LaLoche where he was the conservation officer and my husband was a pilot. We socialized a lot and really enjoyed his company. Dave and I flew into a fishing camp with my husband, travelled to a small lake in an ancient bombadier and proceeded onto the lake in a boat to fish. As I pulled in my third trout and Dave, who was becoming very annoyed as he hadn’t caught anything, said to me “Do you have a fishing licence?” We had a great laugh as, of course, I did not. Elaine

Uncle David was so thoughtful and caring. I will always remember him hosting all the big family events. As well as Uncle David and Aunt Gladys allowing me to sleep over all those summer nights at the lake. Uncle David will be miss but he will never be forgotten.

My deepest sympathy to the Coombes family. I met David in the fall of 1970 when we started training for Renewable Resources at SIAST in Saskatoon. We graduated in the spring of 1972 and started working at DNR shortly after that. A number of years later we retired. David was a great gentleman and will be missed by all that knew him.

Look at this picture and then tell me that this isn’t a vivacious, full-of-life, loving man. David has been a remarkable husband, father, step-dad, grandfather and brother-in-law. With sad hearts we say goodbye. He is an inspiration to us all and we will miss him greatly. Gladys and family, we are present with you in your grief; Know that we will always remember David and celebrate a life well-lived. Vera & Bruce and family
