My sincere condolences to the family and friends of Dr. Jen. I met him when I was referred to for some facial treatments. After my first meeting, I found out after that he had lived in Eatonia with relatives before attending school and becoming a doctor. When I went to the next appointment, I didn't know how to phrase where I was from, so I said to him, hey, guess what, I'm an Eatonia kid, and he responded, I'm an Eatonia kid too! We both chuckled over the coincidence. This led to a short but a unique camaraderie we had of having the same small town in common as he retired fairly soon after my series of appointments. He was so personable, kind and generous as he would ask me what organizations in Eatonia would benefit from donations. I am sad to know I missed his memorial by a mere month. I remember him with great fondness and was glad to have met him. May his family finds peace in their memories and know how much of an impact he had on me, and as I read, many others. Bless you Dr. Jen for your passion, wisdom, and kind heart, for not letting where you came from define you but instead, use your life to help people and do it with kindness. I will never forget you, Eatonia Kid!!!!!

Dr Jen was at all times a gentleman. I have so many fond memories of his kindness to everyone he met. He was an inspiration to me during my years of practice, never being able to attain his gentle and knowledgeable ways, but always reflecting on how to be a better physician and human. A gentle giant amongst us. God bless.

I am forever grateful for Dr. Jen. I came to him as a young teenager with severe acne, and he was a compassionate, kind, and sincere person. I enjoyed my visits with him as I know he truly remembered who I was, and had a clear plan to help me gain my confidence back. He was my doctor for nearly 15 years and I know he helped countless others besides me. I cannot say enough about the remarkable human that he was and he will be dearly missed. My sincerest condolences to all of his family. Rest in peace, Dr. Jen

Dear Suzanne and family,
I never knew Ivan well but when our paths would cross he was always so warm and gracious and left me with a good feeling. Over the years I referred many children with those recalcitrant warts on to him. They came back with stories of how nice and gentle (and successful) he was with them.
Truly a wonderful man in so many ways.
My condolences to you all.

Dear Suzanne,
Whenever now I don my woolen cap I think of you and the dispute you had with Ivan that in the winter he too should wear one. We had these conversations at our City Hospital retiree's luncheons . We always anticipated seeing the both of you there. Ivan especially in his gracious way would bring us up to date on your many activities. Sadly at the last few such gatherings we missed you and now are so saddened to learn we have lost Ivan. That will poignantly be felt widely not only in the medical community, but in the city of Saskatoon and beyond for such a great benefactor, especiallly in the arts. How fortunate we have been to have had him as a new Canadian.
Dr. Ralph and Marg Schneider.

Dr Jen delivered me at St Paul's Hospital 60 years ago. He was our family physician for a number of years and I would describe him as kind, gentle, thoughtful and knowledgeable. In short, he was a very good physician and even though I lost track of him as he pursued his specialty he was never forgotten in our family circle.

My condolences to the Jen Yip family.
I had the pleasure of meeting Drs. Jen and Yip (and Leslie) through their generous contributions to Remai Modern. I will remember Dr. Jen as one of the kindest, gentlest, and warmest people I have come across who treated everyone with respect. I still have a voicemail saved that he left me years ago as it is such a heartwarming message.
Reading about his fascinating life and all the tributes on this page, he exemplified what it means to be a kind and caring human being. We were all lucky to have crossed paths with him.
Sincere condolences.

Dear Suzanne, Stephen, Leslie & Family,
We are sending our deepest condolences to all of you during this difficult time. Dr. Jen was a life long family friend and will be greatly missed. Dr. Jen was an excellent dermatologist. After an appointment with Dr. Jen, our son, who was around four years old at the time said, "Dr. Jen is the nicest man in the whole world!" So true. We have never met a kinder, more patient, caring and compassionate person. Dr. Jen was and always will be a "true gentleman and class act".
We have many wonderful memories of Dr. Jen. It was really nice to see him at our family's restaurant and sometimes we got to drop food off at his house since he lived so close to us. We enjoyed a wonderful lunch together a couple of years ago. We enjoyed our visits with Dr. Jen at his home.
We will treasure our times together with Dr. Jen. We appreciated the typewritten notes and cards he would send to us to say hello and how proud he was of our children's accomplishments. Dr. Jen always had time for everyone and made everyone feel special. He always said we were his "favourites" but we know many people felt that way. Dr. Jen was so genuine, soft spoken and kind-hearted. Dr. Jen made everyone feel like family. We will miss him very much.
Sending lots of warm hugs your way.

Dr. Jen told me he was leaving his practice and I had just found out I was pregnant. I was so sad but in his kind way he assured me he’d come back and deliver my baby should Dr.Chin be away and sure enough he did. There was such excitement in the delivery room as he was so loved. It was like a party with nurses dropping in to say hello. My son came into the world with love and adoration around him. Dr. Jen was very proud of delivering his last baby and often I would see him out publicly and he wouid say,, how’s my boy? I’ve often told my son Scotty, what a honour it was to have this fine gentleman present for the birth in March of 1981.
A life well lived.

Our family was neighbors with the Jens many years ago on 14th Street. I so clearly remember Dr. Jen making house calls to care for us kids when we were sick. He was an amazing, kind and gentle person and I remember his very calm and comforting voice. My condolences to his family - he was a true gentleman.

Met Dr. Jen when I also worked in the Investors Building downtown. I am not sure I have ever met a more gentlemanly and kind person in my life. Not only was he always warm and friendly when we interacted, he expressed a genuine interest in how and what I was up to. He never hesitated to take a moment to exchange greetings and a smile. He is one of those people I wish I had been more diligent with keeping in touch with and checking in on. I am super fortunate to have known him.
