Obituary of Margaret Marie Smith

Margaret Smith, beloved wife of the late Alfred Smith, passed away peacefully with family by her side on November 5, 2023 at the age of 96 years.

Margaret was born in Borden, Saskatchewan on April 2, 1927 to Hugh and Mary McDonald.  After graduation from high school, she attended St. Paul’s School of Nursing and graduated in 1948. Al and Marg were married in May of 1951 after which they made a number of work-related moves throughout Saskatchewan while raising their family of five children.

Margaret took great pride in her home and her family and will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a good friend to many.  

Margaret was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Al in 2003; her mother and father, Hugh and Mary McDonald; and four brothers, Donald, Hugh, Archie, and John. She is survived by her children, Lynn (Thom), Don (Audrey), Ken (Gail), Doug, and Allan; as well as her brother, Lloyd McDonald; sister-in-law, Mary Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews. Her memory will be forever cherished by her 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Margaret’s Life will be held at a later date.
